Travelers flying to or through the United Arab Emirates (UAE) should check their flight status before leaving for the airport. While most UAE airlines continue to operate as usual, several international carriers have extended flight suspensions to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Only a few routes have changed because of the recent US-Iran conflict. These changes mainly affect flights to Bahrain and Abha.
Some Airlines Keep Flights Suspended
Several international airlines have extended their flight suspensions to the UAE.
- Aegean Airlines has cancelled flights to Dubai until 31 August. Lufthansa and SWISS will not resume services until 13 September.
- British Airways plans to restart Dubai flights on 25 October. Air Canada, airBaltic, ITA Airways and Singapore Airlines have also extended their suspensions until 24 October.
- Etihad Airways briefly cancelled flights to Bahrain after Bahrain International Airport closed temporarily. flydubai and Air Arabia also continue to suspend flights to Abha.
However, both airlines continue to operate the rest of their international networks.
Check Flight Updates Before Travelling
The report said many international airlines made these decisions after guidance from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The agency advised European airlines to avoid parts of Gulf airspace because of security risks linked to missile and drone activity.
Passengers should check directly with their airline before travelling. Airlines may change schedules at short notice as they continue to review the security situation.
