GIT Examination 2026 Applications Open for Grade 12 Students

Digital skills continue to play an increasingly important role in higher education and future employment opportunities. As technology becomes a core requirement across industries, the General Information Technology (GIT) Examination remains an important assessment for students preparing for Advanced Level studies and future careers.

The Department of Examinations has announced that applications are now being accepted for the GIT Examination 2026 for eligible Grade 12 students.

According to the Department, applications can be submitted online from June 22 to July 16, 2026.

Who Can Apply?

The examination is open to students currently studying in Grade 12 in 2026 and who are expected to sit the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination for the first time in 2027.

The Department stated that the examination will be conducted for students in both government and private schools.

The GIT Examination is designed to assess fundamental information technology knowledge and skills, which are increasingly important in both academic and professional environments.

Applications Must Be Submitted Through Schools

The Department emphasized that candidates are not permitted to submit applications individually.

Instead, all applications must be forwarded through school principals or heads of institutions.

Principals of government and private schools have been instructed to access the Department’s official online system and follow the relevant guidelines before submitting applications.

Applications must be submitted using the usernames and passwords already issued to school authorities.

Important Instructions for Schools and Students

The Department advised schools to retain a printed copy of each submitted application for future reference.

For private school candidates, examination fees must be paid after student details have been entered into the relevant information database.

The Department also noted that additional students cannot be registered once the payment process has been completed.

Students and school authorities have therefore been advised to verify all details carefully before finalizing applications.

Why the GIT Examination Matters

The GIT Examination provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of information technology before sitting the Advanced Level Examination.

As digital literacy becomes increasingly important across sectors including business, finance, technology, and public administration, information technology skills are becoming a key component of workforce readiness.

For students planning higher education and professional careers, the examination serves as an early benchmark of digital competency.
