Rain and Traffic Delays Reported This Morning

If you’re heading to work, school, meetings, or the airport this morning, please allow extra travel time.

Heavy traffic has been reported at the Peliyagoda exit of the Katunayake Expressway, while congestion is also building on several roads in and around Colombo due to the ongoing rainfall.

For businesses, delays on key routes can affect employee commutes, deliveries, appointments, and logistics schedules. Planning ahead could help avoid unnecessary disruptions.

According to the Department of Meteorology, showers and thundershowers are expected in several parts of the country, with fairly strong winds of 30–40 kmph forecast in some areas.

Wherever you are travelling today, please drive carefully, stay alert, and take extra precautions during periods of heavy rain and reduced visibility.

We’ll continue to monitor developments and keep you updated throughout the day.
