Train season tickets move fully digital for state employees

Railways officials have advised institutions to complete registration promptly, as employees require organisation approval and authentication codes before accessing digital ticket services.

Government employees travelling by train are now required to obtain concessionary season tickets through the new “Pravesha” digital platform, as part of efforts by Sri Lanka Railways to modernise ticketing services.

The department said, “concessionary season tickets for public sector employees have been issued exclusively through the digital system since its introduction on June 9”.

Registration is required before applying

According to a public notice issued by Sri Lanka Railways, employees must first confirm that their institutions have been registered on the platform before creating individual user accounts.

Applicants are required to obtain an Organisation Authentication Code from their respective institutions to complete the registration process.

Once institutional approval is granted, users can apply for season tickets and make payments through the digital platform.

Mobile app

Sri Lanka Railways also announced that the Pravesha mobile application will be available for download from June 15.

The application will allow users to register, apply for season tickets, and access related services through their smartphones.

The department urged public sector employees who travel by train to complete registration on the Pravesha website and use the new digital service.

The programme was officially launched at the Waters Edge Hotel on June 9, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Prasanna Gunasena with other officials.
