The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka has ruled that the Prevention of Money Laundering Amendment Bill can be passed by a simple majority in Parliament, except for several clauses that require a special majority.
Speaker Mr. Jagath Wickramaratne informed Parliament on June 9 of the court’s determination regarding the bill.
However, the court also stated that these provisions could be passed by a simple majority if they are amended in line with the recommendations made in its determination.
