Sri Lanka’s  apparel industry reached a new milestone by debuting its first country pavilion at Source Fashion 2026. The exhibition took place from 13 to 15 January at Olympia London, a leading apparel sourcing venue in Europe.

The pavilion opened on 13 January with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. High Commissioner Nimal Senadheera and UK Trade Envoy Lord Hannett of Everton OBE attended the event. Industry leaders, exhibitors, and officials from the Export Development Board (EDB) and the High Commission in London were also present.

The EDB, industry stakeholders, and the High Commission jointly organised the participation. The initiative aimed to strengthen trade links, widen buyer networks, and promote the country as a reliable sourcing destination for the UK and European markets.

The pavilion featured 20 apparel booths, including 12 small and medium enterprises. Exhibitors showcased locally produced apparel, textiles, handmade products, and value-added solutions. The focus remained on ethical production, sustainability, innovation, and long-term partnerships.

Participating companies included Star Garments Group, Insomnia, J K Garments (Pvt.) Ltd, New Universe Clothing SL, Protector Clothing Manufacturers, Janasri Mills, Pridemo Apparel, Senvin Collection, True Digital Printing, Concord Manufacturing, Kobithan Garments, Hayleys Free Zone Ltd, JAS Activewear, Krisherert Holdings, Jia Moda, Randhi International, along with the “Creative Sri Lanka” and EDB booths.

Design capabilities gained further visibility through Source Fashion Catwalk Shows, where local collections appeared alongside international brands.

Export prospects received a boost under the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS), effective from 1 January 2026. The scheme offers zero import duty and flexible Rules of Origin, improving competitiveness in the UK market.

Overall, the participation highlighted the sector’s growing strength as a sustainable, innovative, and trusted apparel sourcing partner, in line with global supply chain expectations and export growth goals.
