Cabinet Spokesperson and Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa provided the update at the weekly Cabinet media briefing.
He said government officers are continuing assessments to release the remaining compensation payments. Officials are reviewing claims district by district to ensure eligible recipients receive support.
According to the Minister, 73.4% of affected individuals in Gampaha District have received the allowance. Payments have also reached 70.05% in Anuradhapura, 68.39% in Ratnapura, 65.28% in Matale, and 61.42% in Kurunegala.
However, he noted that some districts remain below the 50% payment mark. Authorities have intervened to accelerate the process in those areas.
The Minister said a high-level discussion will take place under the leadership of the President. All District Secretaries will attend the meeting to resolve operational issues and speed up relief delivery.
He added that nearly 2.2 million people were affected by the disaster, the highest number ever recorded. Officials are assessing individual compensation needs while continuing to release payments based on completed evaluations.
