Rs. 212 Million Nursing Quarters Project to Address Staff Housing Shortage at Point Pedro Hospital

Point Pedro Base Hospital will get a new nursing quarters complex costing Rs. 212 million.

The project will help solve a long-standing shortage of accommodation for nursing staff at the hospital. Health and Mass Media Minister Nalinda Jayatissa will lay the foundation stone on Saturday, September 19.

The Northern Provincial Council will fund the project through a government programme to develop health sector facilities.

New Housing for Nursing Staff

Nursing staff at Point Pedro Base Hospital have faced problems due to limited housing facilities.

Therefore, the new quarters will give nursing staff more accommodation near the hospital.

The project forms part of a wider government plan to improve facilities at hospitals and other health institutions.

The government also expects better facilities to help hospitals provide efficient health services to the public.

Project Funded by Northern Provincial Council

The Northern Provincial Council will provide the funds for the Rs. 212 million project.

Meanwhile, the foundation-laying event will bring together provincial and local officials.

The Governor of the Northern Province, local political representatives and the Provincial Chief Secretary will attend the event.

Hospital officials and staff will also take part.

The project will add much-needed accommodation for nursing staff at Point Pedro Base Hospital.

It also forms part of wider efforts to improve facilities and support hospital services in the area.
