The Committee on Public Finance has instructed Finance Ministry Secretary Mr. Harshana Suriyapperuma and Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe to appear before the committee in connection with a US$2.5 million payment made by the Treasury to a third party.
Treasury Report Reviewed
Committee members reviewed a report submitted by the Secretary to the Treasury regarding the transfer of US$2.5 million to a third party.
The committee had previously requested the report as part of its examination of the transaction.
According to Harsha de Silva, the report was submitted to Parliament last week and was subsequently circulated among committee members for review.
Officials Asked to Appear
Following discussions on the report, the committee instructed the Finance Ministry Secretary and the Central Bank Governor to appear before members regarding the matter.
