SLT-MOBITEL Named Among Sri Lanka’s Top 20 Employers for 2026

SLT-MOBITEL has been recognised among Sri Lanka’s Top 20 Employers for 2026 by AICPA & CIMA, reflecting the company’s continued investment in workforce development, employee engagement, and skills transformation as it evolves into a technology-focused enterprise.

Workforce Development at the Centre of Transformation

The recognition comes at a time when organisations across industries are increasingly competing for talent with digital and technology skills.

For SLT-MOBITEL, workforce development has become a key part of its transition from a traditional telecommunications provider to a broader technology company. The Group currently employs more than 7,000 people and has continued to invest in training, reskilling, and capability development to meet changing business and technology requirements.

The company’s employee development strategy is built around preparing staff for emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, digital platforms, and 5G technologies.

Flagship programmes, including Smart Technician, Smart Technical Officer, and Smart Sales Officer, have been introduced to equip employees with both technical and customer-facing capabilities.

Investment in Skills and Education

A significant part of the company’s talent development efforts is carried out through the Nebula Institute of Technology, SLT-MOBITEL’s education arm.

The institute offers degree and diploma programmes through partnerships with international education providers and has expanded training opportunities in fields such as robotics, data science, and fibre technologies.

According to the company, more than 25,000 internal trainees and over 1,000 external students participated in learning programmes during 2025.

The emphasis on training reflects a wider trend across the ICT sector, where rapid technological change is increasing demand for continuous learning and workforce adaptability.

Focus on Employee Experience

Alongside skills development, SLT-MOBITEL has also focused on improving employee experience through digital HR initiatives.

The company has introduced automation, artificial intelligence, and digital tools across several human resource functions, including the launch of the Neylie employee application and the AI-powered “Ask HR” platform.

Employee recognition programmes, performance management initiatives, and engagement activities also form part of the company’s broader effort to build a high-performance workplace culture.

Building Future-Ready Talent

The recognition highlights a growing reality within the technology sector: digital transformation is not only about investing in infrastructure and technology, but also about developing the workforce required to support that transformation.

As organisations continue adapting to emerging technologies and changing customer expectations, talent development is becoming an increasingly important factor in long-term competitiveness.

For SLT-MOBITEL, the Top 20 Employer recognition reflects the role employee development, skills enhancement, and workforce readiness play in supporting both business growth and the wider digital economy.
