Foreign Diplomats Tour Eastern Province to Explore Tourism and Investment Opportunities

Foreign diplomats based in Colombo have started a three-day tour of the Eastern Province.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism organised the tour.

The group left the Colombo Hilton Hotel on Friday morning, September 18. They then travelled to Pasikuda and checked in at Anantaya Resort and Spa.

During the first day, the diplomats spent time at Pasikuda beach. They also visited an exhibition featuring products made by small and medium-scale handicraft producers.

The programme gives foreign diplomats a closer look at the region. It also highlights local tourism, culture and business opportunities.

Tourism and Investment Opportunities

The tour will continue on Saturday with visits to several locations.

The group will visit the Eravur Export Processing Zone. This will give the diplomats an opportunity to see the region’s industrial and investment potential.

They will also visit the Seruwila Buddhist temple and the Koneswaram Hindu temple in Trincomalee. These sites highlight the area’s religious and cultural tourism potential.

In addition, the diplomats will meet political leaders, public representatives and government officials in the Eastern Province.

The discussions will focus on investment and regional development opportunities.

Eastern Province Takes Its Tourism Story Abroad

The Ministry said the programme will help promote the region to the international community.

It will also give local tourism and business opportunities more exposure among foreign diplomatic missions.

Furthermore, the tour brings tourism sites, local producers and investment locations into one programme.

The diplomats will return to Colombo on Sunday, September 20.

The programme aims to build greater international interest in the Eastern Province. It also seeks to support future tourism and investment activity in the region.
