IRD Sets September 30 Deadline for Final Income Tax Payment

IRD Sets September 30 Deadline for Final Income Tax Payment

Taxpayers must pay their final income tax for the 2025/2026 Year of Assessment by September 30, 2026, the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) said.

The deadline covers Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Individual Income Tax (IIT) and Partnership Income Tax (PIT).

The IRD has urged taxpayers to pay on time to avoid interest and penalties.

Taxpayers can make payments through the IRD’s Online Tax Payment Platform.

They can also pay CIT, IIT and PIT at any Bank of Ceylon branch.

Taxpayers who pay at a bank without a preprinted paying-in slip must include their Document Identification Number (DIN).

The DIN helps the IRD match the payment with the correct taxpayer account.

The IRD said late payments will attract interest and penalties.

It also said taxpayers cannot waive or reduce interest charged for late payments.

Payments made by bank draft or pay order must reach the IRD by the deadline.

If the bank realises the payment after September 30, the IRD will treat it as a late payment.

Taxpayers who need help can contact the IRD hotline on 1944.
