More than 4,000 BYD customers have installed the BYD Mobile App since it went live in Sri Lanka on 7 August, giving vehicle owners remote access to their cars and real-time vehicle information through their smartphones.
BYD and its authorised Sri Lankan distributor, John Keells CG Auto, introduced the app to bring connected vehicle features to local customers.
The app allows owners to lock and unlock their vehicles remotely, pre-cool or pre-heat the cabin, locate their vehicles and check battery levels and driving range.
Owners can also monitor charging progress and receive notifications about their vehicle’s status.
BYD expands app access through service centres
Customer onboarding began at the BYD Delivery Hub in Colombo when customers collected their vehicles.
The service has since expanded to BYD service centres in Kandy, Galle, Kurunegala and Ampara.
BYD plans to continue setting up the app for customers during vehicle deliveries and service-centre visits.
Charith Panditharatne, Chief Executive Officer of John Keells CG Auto, said the strong customer uptake shows the interest in connected vehicle services.
He said the app gives customers greater control over their vehicles and supports a more connected ownership experience.
The app also gives owners access to their vehicle even when they are away from it.
For example, an owner can check the vehicle’s battery level or charging progress without being next to the car.

App available free for BYD owners
The BYD Mobile App is available free of charge through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Customers can download the app and create a BYD account.
They then complete secure verification and pair the app with their vehicle during delivery or at a BYD service centre.
With more than 4,000 installations since 7 August, BYD is expanding its connected vehicle services as its local customer base grows.
