Beneficiaries of the Agrahara Insurance Scheme have until 31 July to update their personal information as part of an ongoing data system upgrade by the National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF).
NITF Chairperson Dr. Vishaka Wanasinghe urged members to complete the process without delay, saying the updated database will support the future delivery of Agrahara benefits.
Nearly 900,000 Direct Beneficiaries
The Agrahara Insurance Scheme covers around 900,000 serving and retired public and provincial public sector employees who are entitled to pensions. Including family members, nearly three million people receive benefits under the program.
The data update began in April 2026, and around 600,000 public sector employees have already updated their information.
Institutions Asked to Support the Process
Dr. Wanasinghe said nearly 1,900 government institutions have been requested to appoint Agrahara coordinating officers to verify members’ information.
She also called on institutions that have not yet appointed coordinators to do so before the deadline.
The NITF will use the updated database to manage future benefit payments under the Agrahara Insurance Scheme. Beneficiaries who have not yet updated their details are encouraged to complete the process before 31 July.
