The data shows continued improvement in economic activity, supported by higher demand and increased business confidence toward the end of the year.
Manufacturing Records Strong Expansion
The Manufacturing PMI rose to 60.9 in December, up from 55.5 in November, remaining well above the 50-point threshold that signals expansion.
The increase was driven mainly by growth in new orders and production, particularly within the food and beverage sector. Employment and purchases also expanded, indicating broader activity across the manufacturing sector.
Supplier delivery times lengthened during the month, largely due to higher demand and weather-related transport delays.
Services Sector Leads Overall Growth
The Services PMI stood at 67.9 in December, pointing to a sharp expansion in services-related activities.
Growth was supported by increased activity in wholesale and retail trade, helped by seasonal demand during the year-end period. Financial services and hospitality-related services also recorded higher levels of activity.
Resilience Despite Weather Disruptions
The Central Bank noted that both sectors continued to expand despite adverse weather conditions experienced earlier in the month. The performance reflects resilience in business operations even amid logistical challenges.
Positive Outlook for Early 2026
Expectations for business activity over the next three months improved, with survey respondents expressing optimism about continued growth. The outlook reflects supportive economic conditions and sustained demand entering the first quarter of 2026.
