The government has identified judicial digitalization as a national priority under its broader reform agenda. Authorities aim to modernize court operations and improve public access to justice.

As part of the first phase, the Supreme Court has already launched an official website and an electronic case management system. Officials said these tools mark the foundation of a wider digital transition.

The project will now expand to cover all courts. These include the Court of Appeal, the Judicial Service Commission, and the Institute of Judges. Authorities plan to integrate operations across institutions through shared digital platforms.

Plans are also in place to establish a national judicial data network. Officials said the system will help reduce case backlogs, improve transparency, and address procedural delays that affect timely case resolution.

To support implementation, the Cabinet approved a proposal by the Minister of Justice to allocate Rs. 150 million to the Judicial Service Commission. The funding will come from allocations under the Clean Sri Lanka Project.

Officials said the initiative aligns with the IMF Reform Agenda 2026–2030 Public Investment Programme and broader governance reforms aimed at strengthening institutional efficiency.
