SriLankan Airlines Targets Indian Cricket Fans to Boost Tourism During Test Series

SriLankan Airlines Targets Indian Cricket Fans to Boost Tourism During Test Series

SriLankan Airlines has launched a marketing campaign in Mumbai to attract Indian cricket fans to visit Sri Lanka during the upcoming two-Test cricket series, aiming to drive tourism from one of the country’s largest visitor markets.

The campaign promotes Sri Lanka as a destination where visitors can watch live Test cricket while enjoying beaches, heritage sites and cultural attractions during their stay.

To maximise visibility, the airline has installed LED billboards at key locations across Mumbai, including Kings Circle, BKC T Junction, Chembur and SCLR. The advertisements target commuters during peak morning and evening traffic.

Campaign targets key tourism market

Mumbai remains one of the main source markets for visitors to Sri Lanka. With cricket continuing to attract large travelling fan bases, the airline expects the Test series to generate additional demand for leisure travel.

India’s tour of Sri Lanka will begin with a three-day warm-up match at the NCC Grounds in Colombo from 7 to 9 August. The first Test will take place at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from 15 to 19 August, followed by the second Test at the SSC Grounds in Colombo from 23 to 27 August.

Promoting sports tourism

The campaign forms part of SriLankan Airlines’ wider efforts to strengthen its presence in the Indian market while promoting Sri Lanka as a destination for both leisure and sports tourism.

By combining cricket with holiday experiences, the airline hopes to encourage more visitors to extend their trips beyond the matches and explore other attractions across the country.
