Planning a trip to the Maldives? Getting beyond Malé has just become easier.
SriLankan Airlines passengers can now book flights to 17 domestic destinations across the Maldives on a single ticket through a new interline agreement with Maldivian, the country’s domestic airline.
Instead of booking separate tickets for international and domestic flights, travellers can now arrange their entire journey in one booking. The agreement covers travel through Velana International Airport in Malé and Gan International Airport, making it easier to continue to islands served by Maldivian.
This is especially useful because many of the Maldives’ resorts, local communities and business centres are located outside Malé. Travellers heading to those islands can now plan their journey more easily without having to manage separate flight bookings.
The new arrangement is also expected to make life easier for travel agents, tour operators and corporate travel planners, who can now offer customers a single itinerary that combines both airlines.
SriLankan Airlines currently operates three daily flights to Malé and two weekly flights to Gan. By linking those services with Maldivian’s domestic network, passengers arriving on SriLankan Airlines can continue their journey to more destinations across the Maldives with fewer booking steps.
The agreement also helps SriLankan Airlines extend its reach across the Maldives without adding new flights, while giving travellers more options when planning holidays or business trips.
