Jailer 2 Delivers One of Rajinikanth’s Biggest Openings
The opening puts Jailer 2 among the biggest first-day performers in Tamil cinema.
Cinema Express reported that it became the second-highest opening day for a Rajinikanth film, behind Coolie.
The film is a sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 hit Jailer.
Rajinikanth returns as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The cast also includes Mohanlal, Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah and several other well-known actors.
The film was released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.
The Tamil version led the Indian market on Day 1, with a net collection of Rs. 43.35 crore. The Telugu version added Rs. 12.50 crore, while the Hindi and Kannada versions collected Rs. 3.50 crore and Rs. 35 lakh.
What Happens Next for Jailer 2?
The opening day has given Jailer 2 a strong start, but its longer box-office run will depend on how well it holds over the following days.
Sacnilk’s latest data shows the film collected another Rs. 35.60 crore net in India on Day 2, taking its India net total to Rs. 95.30 crore.
The film’s ending has also led to speculation about a possible Jailer 3.
However, there has been no official announcement of a third film from the makers.
For now, the focus remains on whether Jailer 2 can turn its strong opening into a longer box-office run.
