Chinese Dragon Café (CDC) has opened its newest outlet in Negombo, taking its Sri Lankan outlet count to 13 and its worldwide total to 14.
The new restaurant is located at No. 48, Chilaw Road, Negombo, about 400 metres from Maris Stella College towards Kochchikade.
The opening expands the brand’s presence to one of the country’s popular coastal cities. It also brings Chinese Dragon Café’s food and dining experience closer to customers in Negombo.
From Bambalapitiya to 14 outlets worldwide
Chinese Dragon Café began in 1942 when a Chinese couple opened a small restaurant in Bambalapitiya.
Since then, the brand has grown into one of the recognised Chinese restaurant names in the country. Over more than eight decades, it has expanded to locations across the country.
Its Sri Lankan outlets are in Bambalapitiya, Mount Lavinia, Nugegoda, Rajagiriya, Pelawatta, Wattala, Kandana, Kaduwela, Jaffna, Galle, Gothatuwa and Orion City, along with the new Negombo outlet.
The brand also expanded outside the country in 2021. It opened its first international outlet in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, taking its Sri Lankan Chinese flavours to a wider audience.
The Negombo opening now adds another location to that journey.
New outlet targets families, groups and businesses
Chinese Dragon Café said Negombo offers an opportunity to serve both local customers and visitors to the city.
The new outlet has a spacious dining area for families, groups, tourists and the local community. It also includes a private dining room.
Customers can use the private space for family gatherings, celebrations, business meetings and other special occasions.
The restaurant offers a range of services as well. These include free delivery, indoor and outdoor catering, corporate meal solutions and online ordering through www.chinesedragoncafe.com.
Chinese Dragon Café is known for customer favourites such as Hot Butter Cuttlefish and Seafood Fried Rice served in a Banana Leaf. Its menu also includes a range of rice, noodles, seafood and other Chinese dishes.
Over the years, the brand says it has built a loyal customer base by offering consistent quality, familiar flavours and a dining experience enjoyed by generations of Sri Lankans.
CDC sees potential in Negombo
Commenting on the opening, Mr. Lahiruwan Lakmal, Chief Operating Officer of Chinese Dragon Café, said:
“Negombo is a unique and growing city with a strong connection to seafood, tourism and a diverse customer community. We see great potential in this market and believe our Chinese cuisine will be well received by customers here. We are very happy to bring the Chinese Dragon Café experience to Negombo and look forward to becoming part of the local community.”

The Negombo outlet forms part of the company’s plan to bring Chinese Dragon Café closer to customers in key cities across the country.
The company plans to continue offering the food, flavours and service that customers have known and enjoyed over the years.
At the same time, Chinese Dragon Café is preparing for further expansion. The company has planned new outlets in Kandy and Kurunegala.
For a brand that started with a small restaurant in Bambalapitiya in 1942, the Negombo opening marks another step in its expansion journey. It brings together the brand’s long history, familiar flavours and modern dining experience as CDC continues to reach more customers.
