Sri Lankan workers can now apply for new overseas employment opportunities in Japan, South Korea, Israel and several Middle Eastern countries.
The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency has started recruitment for jobs across construction, skilled trades, health care, information technology, engineering and transport.
Opportunities are also available in agriculture, garment manufacturing and other sectors.
The programme covers skilled, semi-skilled and professional workers. The agency says applicants can apply at relatively low costs.
Japan truck driver jobs open to school leavers
School leavers will also have an opportunity to apply for truck driver positions in Japan.
Applicants must meet the required Japanese language proficiency to qualify for these positions.
Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency (SLFEA) Chairman Lal Hettiarachchi said recruitment has already begun for the available jobs.
The opportunities are aimed at expanding access to overseas employment for Sri Lankan workers across a wider range of skills and professions.
Applicants can get more information and submit applications through the agency’s website.
Lower-cost air tickets for overseas workers
The agency has also opened an air ticket sales centre for workers travelling overseas for employment.
Hettiarachchi said the centre will offer tickets at prices below prevailing market rates.
This could reduce one of the upfront costs faced by workers preparing to leave for overseas employment.
The new recruitment drive covers several major overseas labour markets, while the ticket service is designed to make the travel stage more affordable for successful applicants.
