Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has travelled to Bhutan to attend the Global Conscious Food Systems Summit.
She is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the summit’s opening session on September 1.
Amarasuriya will speak under the theme “Rising to the Moment: Igniting Consciousness to Address the Polycrisis.”
The summit brings together international leaders and representatives to discuss how countries can build better food systems.
Focus on Food Security
During the visit, Amarasuriya will also hold discussions with international leaders and representatives.
The talks will focus on food security, sustainable food systems and resilient communities.
These areas are closely linked to how countries produce, supply, and access food.
The discussions will also look at ways to improve cooperation between countries on these issues.
For Sri Lanka, stronger cooperation in food systems could support efforts linked to food security and more resilient communities.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the visit will provide an opportunity to strengthen cooperation on these areas.
Amarasuriya will take part in the summit’s opening plenary on September 1 and deliver the keynote address.
