Admiral (Retired) Kanchana Banagoda has been appointed as the new Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (AASL), with effect from September 1, 2026.
Banagoda will take over the position from W. S. Mangala, Secretary to the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, who has been serving as Acting Chairman.
Mangala took on the acting role following the departure of former AASL Chairman Harsha Abeywickrama in January.
Banagoda’s appointment comes as AASL continues to oversee the management and operations of the country’s airports and related aviation services.
He will formally begin his term as Chairman on September 1.
