Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana has made his first franchise investment by acquiring the Dinkers franchise in pickleball.
Pathirana has partnered with his longtime manager and business associate Amila Kalugalage, who will serve as the managing partner of Dinkers.
The franchise will compete as Yarl Dinkers in the Ceylon Pickle League (CPL).
The move takes Pathirana beyond cricket and into franchise ownership, giving him a new business interest in the growing pickleball sector.
Yarl Dinkers Prepares for CPL
Kalugalage will oversee the strategic and commercial direction of Dinkers and its CPL franchise.
He said the aim is to build Dinkers into a sports brand with a clear identity and long-term plans.
Pathirana said he sees Yarl Dinkers as more than just a team and wants supporters to feel connected to the franchise.
The franchise is now preparing for the CPL auction, where it will look to build its playing squad.
It also plans to develop a supporter community around Yarl Dinkers as it prepares for its first season in the league.
The acquisition gives Pathirana his first entry into franchise ownership, while Yarl Dinkers becomes the brand’s competitive identity in the Ceylon Pickle League.
