Upgraded Pettah Bus Maintenance Facility Aims to Improve Public Transport Reliability

The government has upgraded the engineering division at the Pettah Central Bus Stand (CBS). The project aims to improve bus maintenance and make public transport more reliable.

The government completed the upgrade under the Clean Sri Lanka National Programme. The Sri Lanka Air Force provided labour and technical support for the project.

Deputy Minister of Transport Prasanna Gunasena said the new facility gives engineering technicians a safer and cleaner place to work. It also improves the infrastructure needed for daily bus inspections, servicing and repairs.

The upgraded division will help engineers maintain buses more efficiently. Better maintenance will keep more buses on the road and reduce service disruptions for passengers.

The project also aims to improve the safety and reliability of public transport. The Deputy Minister said stronger cooperation between government institutions helped complete the project successfully.

He also thanked the Sri Lanka Air Force for its contribution. He said its support played an important role in completing the work on time.

The upgraded engineering division is expected to improve bus operations and provide commuters with a safer and more dependable transport service.
