Celeste has appointed Dayan Pandithasekera as its Chief Operating Officer as the quick commerce retailer strengthens its leadership team to support the next phase of its growth.
The company said the appointment comes as it continues expanding its operations, technology and customer experience. Since its founding, Celeste has doubled its turnover approximately every two years and now serves nearly 200,000 customers through multiple fulfilment locations.
Founder Janik Jayasuriya said the company is now focused on building a business that can sustain its long-term growth.
“Celeste was built to solve a real problem at one of the hardest moments to start a business. Years on, the priority isn’t proving we can grow fast, it’s proving we can build something that lasts. Dayan brings the experience and discipline to help lead that next stage,” he said.
Brings more than two decades of leadership experience
Pandithasekera joins Celeste with more than 20 years of executive leadership experience across commercial operations, sales, marketing and business transformation.
He has held leadership roles at multinational companies including Unilever, Nestlé and Coca-Cola, as well as the Maliban Group. During his career, he has led business transformation programmes, strengthened commercial operations and supported organizational growth across local and international markets.
His experience also includes modernising operating models, developing commercial capabilities and leading large-scale business transformation initiatives.
In his new role, Pandithasekera will oversee operational and strategic execution as Celeste continues expanding its fulfilment network. He will also focus on strengthening technology, improving operational capabilities and enhancing the customer experience as the company grows its business.
