Public awareness plays a key role in environmental conservation, particularly at a time when issues such as biodiversity loss, climate change, and sustainable resource management are receiving increasing attention. A renewed partnership between Nations Trust Bank and the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society (WNPS) aims to keep those conversations accessible to the public.
Nations Trust Bank has renewed its partnership with the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society, continuing its support for the organisation’s monthly public lecture series.
As one of the Bank’s sustainability initiatives, the partnership supports a series of free educational lectures conducted by environmental experts. The sessions are open to the public, nature enthusiasts, and Nations Trust Bank customers.
Focus on Environmental Education
The lecture series covers a range of environmental topics, including biodiversity conservation, climate action, environmental research, and sustainability.
Through the programme, members of the public have the opportunity to engage directly with researchers, scientists, and conservation professionals while gaining insights into environmental challenges and solutions.
Commenting on the partnership renewal, Nations Trust Bank Chief Marketing Officer Sanjaya Senarath said:
“Environmental conservation is a shared responsibility that requires collective action and greater awareness. Through our continued partnership with WNPS, we are committed to supporting initiatives that educate and inspire individuals to make informed, environmentally responsible choices that contribute to the protection of our natural heritage for future generations.”
Marine Research to Take Centre Stage
The next lecture in the series is scheduled to be held on 18 June at the Jasmine Hall, BMICH.
The session will feature Dr. Prabath Jayasinghe, Principal Scientist at the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA).
He is expected to present findings from the 30-day voyage of the research vessel Dr. Fridtjof Nansen, which is regarded as one of the most comprehensive scientific surveys conducted in local waters under the Nansen Programme.
According to organisers, the presentation will provide audiences with a first-hand account of the expedition and its discoveries across the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
Long-Term Conservation Partnership
Nations Trust Bank has maintained its partnership with WNPS for several years and has supported both its lecture series and publications.
The collaboration forms part of the Bank’s broader sustainability agenda and efforts to encourage environmental awareness among the public.
By supporting educational programmes and conservation-focused initiatives, the partnership seeks to strengthen public understanding of environmental issues while contributing to biodiversity conservation and responsible environmental stewardship.
