Dollar Selling Rate Falls Below Rs. 337

The latest exchange rate movement follows recent volatility in the currency market and will be closely watched by businesses involved in imports, exports and foreign currency transactions.

The rupee recovered against the US dollar on June 15, reversing the weakening recorded in recent trading sessions, according to exchange rate data released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

The latest movement pushed the dollar selling rate below Rs. 337, while the buying rate also declined compared to the previous trading day.

Rupee Reverses Recent Losses

Central Bank data showed the dollar buying rate at Rs. 326.34 and the selling rate at Rs. 336.58 on June 15.

By comparison, on June 12, the dollar buying rate stood at Rs. 331.42, while the selling rate was Rs. 341.36.

The change indicates an appreciation of the rupee against the US dollar following a period of depreciation in the foreign exchange market.

Exchange Rate Movement

The exchange rate remains a closely watched indicator as it influences import costs, foreign currency transactions and broader market sentiment.

The latest Central Bank figures reflect a stronger rupee position compared with the previous trading session.
