International parcel deliveries to the Middle East are facing delays.
According to Postmaster General Ruwan Sathkumara, the disruptions come after several flights to Middle Eastern destinations were cancelled due to the ongoing regional conflict.
These cancellations have affected the movement of international mail handled by the Department of Posts, Sri Lanka. As a result, some parcels collected for dispatch last Friday are still waiting to be sent.
Postal authorities say the delays are mainly linked to operational restrictions and reduced flight availability. Air transport plays a key role in international parcel delivery, particularly for shipments moving to Middle Eastern hubs.
Officials have informed the public about the disruption and are coordinating with postal administrations in the affected countries.
The disruption is not limited to Sri Lanka. Postal networks in several recipient countries are also experiencing delays as aviation routes across the region remain uncertain.
