Parakrama Dissanayake officially assumed office as Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on Tuesday.
Dr. Dissanayake previously served as Chairman of the SLPA on two separate occasions. He brings extensive experience in maritime operations, logistics management and corporate governance.
Over the years, he has held senior leadership roles in both the public and private sectors. Notably, he served in key positions at Aitken Spence PLC and several of its subsidiaries. He has also contributed to national port management and advisory frameworks.
At the international level, Dr. Dissanayake became the first non-British President of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. In addition, he has participated in maritime advisory initiatives under the United Nations.
His appointment comes at a time when the port and maritime sector continues to play a strategic role in trade facilitation and regional connectivity. Officials expect his experience to support operational efficiency and long-term sectoral development at the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.
