Swiss carrier Edelweiss Air resumed its seasonal flight operations to Sri Lanka for the winter season, with the first flight touching down at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at 9:25 a.m. on October 31. The arrival was marked by a ceremonial water salute by Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Pvt. Limited (AASL).

  • Winter Season Operations: Edelweiss will operate its A340-300 direct flights from Zurich to Colombo until May 9, 2025, catering to travelers seeking convenient connections to Europe and North America via Zurich.
  • Airline Commitment: As a subsidiary of Swiss International Airlines and part of the Lufthansa Group, Edelweiss operates under codeshare agreements with SWISS International and Lufthansa, offering 314 seats across business, premium economy, and economy classes.
  • Enhanced Connectivity for Tourism: Edelweiss plays a pivotal role in linking Sri Lanka’s tourism sector with European markets. Last winter season, the airline transported over 5,500 passengers to Sri Lanka, significantly supporting local tourism.
