Power supply has received a boost after all three units at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant returned to the national grid. The three units were shut down after the island-wide power outage on October 17. They have now been reconnected following steps to bring them back into operation.
For the public, this means Norochcholai’s full generating capacity is again available to support the national power system.
All Three Units Back in Action
The three generating units went offline after the sudden island-wide power failure. National System Operator (Pvt) Ltd. had earlier said the plant would remain disconnected for several days. Officials took this step as a safety measure after the emergency.
The operator said such action follows standard safety procedures during major power system emergencies.
Since then, steps have been taken to restart the three units. All of them are now connected to the national grid.
What It Means for the Public
Norochcholai is once again supplying power through all three generating units.
This gives the national grid additional generation support after the October 17 outage.
The return of all three units is also a positive development for households and businesses that depend on a steady power supply.
However, the update does not mean future power cuts are impossible. It confirms that all three Norochcholai units are back on the grid after the emergency shutdown.
For now, the key update for the public is clear: all three coal power units are back in action and supporting the national electricity system.
