Rupee Weakens Slightly Against US Dollar as Selling Rate Reaches Rs. 335.95

The Sri Lankan Rupee weakened slightly against the US Dollar today, with the Central Bank’s reported selling rate rising to Rs. 335.95 from Rs. 335.64 last Friday.

The CBSL buying rate also increased from Rs. 326.67 to Rs. 326.89.

This means the buying rate rose by Rs. 0.22, while the selling rate increased by Rs. 0.31.

What changed in the exchange rate?

According to the latest Central Bank rates, the US Dollar is now quoted at:

  • Buying rate: Rs. 326.89
  • Selling rate: Rs. 335.95

On the previous Friday, the rates were Rs. 326.67 and Rs. 335.64 respectively.

The movement remains small, showing only a slight change in the Rupee’s value against the US Dollar.

For businesses and individuals buying US Dollars through the reported selling rate, the increase means each Dollar now costs slightly more in Rupees.

Rupee also moves against other currencies

The Rupee has also recorded small movements against a basket of foreign currencies, including currencies used in Gulf markets.

The latest changes indicate that the Rupee’s movement has been relatively limited across the major currencies covered by the Central Bank’s daily exchange rates.

The exchange rates are updated regularly by the Central Bank and are used as a reference for foreign currency transactions.
