Twelve home cooks took part in a live cooking challenge using Bairaha chicken products at a food expo in Colombo.
The Home Cooking Challenge took place during the Pro-Food Pro-Pack & Agbiz 2026 trade expo at BMICH from August 21 to 23.
The Sri Lanka Food Processors’ Association (SLFPA) organised the challenge as part of the three-day expo.
The event gave selected home cooks a chance to show their cooking skills in front of a public audience.
12 home cooks compete
The 12 participants prepared different chicken dishes using Bairaha products.
Each participant brought their own ideas and cooking skills to the competition. They also used fresh ingredients provided for the event.
A panel of chefs and cooking experts judged the dishes. The winners received gifts and prizes at the end of the competition.
The challenge also gave home cooks a chance to take part in a professional food event.
For many participants, it was an opportunity to show their skills to a wider audience.
Bairaha supports cooking challenge
Bairaha Farms PLC took part in the Home Cooking Challenge as part of its activities at the expo.
The company used the event to bring its chicken products into a live cooking setting. As a result, visitors could see how home cooks used the products to prepare different dishes.
Ravin Madushanka, Brand Manager at Bairaha Farms PLC, thanked the participants and organizers for supporting the company’s participation.
“We are grateful to all participants and hosts who enabled us to take part successfully in these events,” Madushanka said.
He also highlighted the role of such events in allowing Bairaha to engage with consumers.
