Prima and Serendib have increased the price of wheat flour by Rs. 17 per kilogram, with the new price taking effect from August 29.
The companies confirmed the price increase today.
The move means customers will now pay Rs. 17 more for each kilogram of wheat flour sold by the two companies.
Wheat flour is widely used by households as well as bakeries, restaurants and other food businesses.
The higher price therefore adds to the cost of an ingredient used in a range of everyday food products.
The companies have not provided further details on the reason for the increase.
For now, the confirmed change is the Rs. 17 per kilogram increase, effective from August 29.
