Tourist arrivals have surpassed 1.3 million so far in 2026, with visitor numbers continuing to grow during July.
The latest figures from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) show that 1,313,974 tourists arrived between 1 January and 26 July 2026.
A total of 167,401 visitors arrived during the first 26 days of July, reflecting continued demand during the mid-year travel season.
India remains the largest source market
India continued to lead international arrivals in July, with 38,785 visitors recorded during the first 26 days of the month.
It also remained the largest source market for the year to date. 310,293 Indian tourists visited between January and 26 July, according to SLTDA data.
Tourism continues to build momentum
The latest figures suggest the tourism sector has maintained steady momentum through the first seven months of the year. The industry remains an important source of foreign exchange while supporting businesses across hospitality, transport, retail and leisure.
The SLTDA is expected to release updated arrival figures as the July travel season continues.
