Police Urge Public to Report Drug Activities via 1818 Hotline

The request comes as Police intensify nationwide operations during Drug Prevention Week, which began on March 1 under the theme “Country Together – Quit.”

Police Urge Public to Report Drug Activities via 1818 Hotline

Sri Lanka Police are urging the public to report drug-related activities through the confidential hotline 1818.

According to the police, public information plays a vital role in identifying drug networks. Therefore, authorities encourage citizens to share tips through the dedicated hotline.

Officials say even small pieces of information have helped investigators carry out several large-scale drug raids. As a result, the Police believe public cooperation remains essential to the campaign.

Meanwhile, officers from the Colombo Central Division conducted a community awareness programme in Fort on March 3. The operation followed instructions from Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya.

During the programme, officers distributed awareness leaflets and placed stickers on three-wheelers around Bastion Mawatha. These materials highlighted the 1818 hotline and encouraged the public to report suspicious activities.

In addition, the police urged individuals affected by drug addiction to seek rehabilitation support and treatment.

Authorities emphasized that the hotline operates as a confidential channel for sharing information related to narcotics activities.
