SLT Group reports Rs. 10bn PAT in FY2025 amid cost savings and debt reduction

The SLT Group delivered strong financial results for the year ended 31 December 2025, reporting substantial cost savings and improved profitability across key metrics.

Group Profit After Tax (PAT) surged 221% year-on-year to Rs. 10 billion, compared to Rs. 3.1 billion in FY2024. Management attributed the growth to disciplined expense control, reduced finance costs and steady revenue expansion across fixed and mobile segments.

Finance costs declined 21% to Rs. 7,054 million as debt levels reduced and interest rates eased. As a result, Profit Before Tax rose 88% to Rs. 11.3 billion.

Chairman Dr. Mothilal de Silva stated that “The SLT Group’s financial performance for FY 2025 underscores the effectiveness of our strategic direction and the robustness of our operations.

Through stringent cost management and prudent financial stewardship, we delivered significant improvements in profitability while simultaneously advancing both our fixed and mobile businesses.

This performance reinforces our commitment to leveraging the momentum of 2025 to drive sustainable long-term growth and strengthen stakeholder confidence. I extend my sincere gratitude to all our stakeholders, particularly our loyal customers, for their continued trust, and to our employees for their dedication and outstanding resilience.

This commitment was especially evident in the aftermath of the recent Cyclone Ditwah, where our teams worked tirelessly to restore severely damaged network infrastructure and ensure the swift resumption of essential telecommunication services. This resilience will continue to guide us as we strengthen connectivity and deliver meaningful impact to the communities we serve.”

SLT PLC records steady gains

Mobitel drives exceptional growth

Mobitel delivered a PAT of Rs. 3.1 billion, up 2,123% from Rs. 139 million in FY2024. Revenue increased 5% to Rs. 47.9 billion, driven by data consumption growth, subscriber expansion, value-added services, roaming and enterprise solutions.

We are entering FY 2026 with renewed energy to expand services and enhance customer engagement, accelerating growth through innovation and market leadership.”

Mobitel also secured 5G spectrum and continued island-wide 5G deployment, positioning the Group at the forefront of next-generation connectivity.

National resilience and outlook

Following Cyclone Ditwah, SLT-MOBITEL restored over 98% of impacted network sites within one week. The company also launched a 24/7 National Medical Helpline in collaboration with the University of Colombo.
