Honda owners should check whether their vehicles need an SRS airbag system upgrade.
The safety work is available free of charge.
The recall covers selected model codes across several Honda models. These include the Civic, CR-V, Accord, Fit/Jazz, City, Insight, Stream, Odyssey, Integra and Crossroad.
Owners can check their vehicle’s recall status using the chassis number through the Honda Sri Lanka safety recall portal.
The notice warns that an affected airbag system could cause injury to the driver or front passenger if the airbags deploy during a crash.
Free safety upgrade available
Stafford Motor Co. (Pvt) Ltd., Honda’s sole authorised automobile distributor, will provide the required SRS airbag upgrade at no cost.
Importantly, the free service also covers Honda vehicles that Stafford Motor Co. did not import or previously service.
Therefore, owners who bought their Honda through another channel can also check its recall status.
The same applies to owners who have maintained their vehicles at other service centres.
Check your chassis number
Honda owners can use their chassis number to find out whether their vehicle needs the upgrade.
If the vehicle appears in the recall system, owners can then arrange the required safety work.
The recall covers only selected model codes. As a result, owners should check their individual vehicle rather than assume that every vehicle of a particular model needs the upgrade.
