Passengers will once again be able to travel on the Colombo–Kankesanthurai intercity express train every day from 14 July, as the Railway Department resumes its full weekly service.
The train had operated only four days a week after services on Tuesdays and Thursdays were temporarily suspended due to a shortage of power sets.
Full Weekly Service Restored
Railway trade unions raised concerns that the reduced timetable had caused inconvenience to passengers travelling on the Northern Railway Line.
Following those concerns, railway authorities decided to restore services on Tuesdays and Thursdays, returning the intercity express to its normal daily schedule.
