Yotta to Spend $2 Billion on Nvidia Chips for India AI Hub

Yotta to Spend Billion on Nvidia Chips for India AI Hub

India’s Yotta Data Services will invest more than $2 billion in Nvidia’s latest AI chips to build a major artificial intelligence computing hub.

The move comes as Yotta prepares for a potential stock market listing. Chief Executive Sunil Gupta said the company plans to raise up to $1.2 billion from investors ahead of an initial public offering that could take place this year.

Yotta will deploy more than 20,000 Blackwell Ultra chips from Nvidia by August. Nvidia will use half of those chips over four years for its DGX AI cloud service, which supports major Indian IT firms such as Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys.

Yotta, backed by billionaire Niranjan Hiranandani’s real estate group, already operates three data centre campuses in Mumbai, Gujarat and near New Delhi. The new AI supercluster will be based in New Delhi, with added capacity from Mumbai.

India continues to expand its AI ambitions as it seeks to narrow the gap with the United States and China. The country has attracted nearly $70 billion in technology investments from global firms such as Microsoft and Alphabet.

The investment also follows tighter U.S. export controls on advanced AI chips. These rules have reshaped supply chains and encouraged companies to strengthen partnerships in markets like India.

Meanwhile, a source told Reuters that Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala is in talks to invest in Yotta before its IPO. Yotta declined to comment, and Mubadala did not respond to requests for confirmation.

The deal signals growing momentum in India’s push to become a major AI infrastructure hub.
