Voting for the highly anticipated Sri Lanka’s Presidential Election 2024 has officially begun today (September 21), marking a pivotal moment in the country’s history. Polling will take place at 13,421 polling stations across the island, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This year’s election sees a record-breaking 38 candidates vying for the presidency, the largest number in Sri Lanka’s electoral history. A total of 17,140,354 eligible voters are expected to participate, with the Gampaha District leading in voter registration at 1,881,129, followed by Colombo with 1,765,351 voters and Kurunegala with 1,417,226.
