The Sri Lankan government 🇱🇰 has swiftly addressed the recent issues in visa issuance faced by foreigners. Starting from 12.00 midnight today (September 26), all foreigners can now apply for visas under the previous system, announced Minister Vijitha Herath.
The change comes after significant challenges arose with the visa services provided by VFS Global, causing delays and inconvenience for travelers. In response, the Ministry of Public Security intervened, resuming the visa process under the old system, which will now be processed within 24 hours.
The government has also launched a forensic audit to investigate irregularities associated with VFS Global and plans to take legal action if discrepancies are identified. This move aims to restore confidence and ensure a smooth visa process for business and investment sectors.
