Sri Lankan Consulate in Dubai Supports Community Amid UAE Amnesty Programme 2024

The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai and the Northern Emirates has been actively assisting the Sri Lankan community during the UAE amnesty programme, which began on 1st September and will run until 31st October 2024. This programme offers an opportunity for individuals to regularize their visa status or return to Sri Lanka without facing penalties.

Key Highlights:

  • Temporary Travel Documents (TTDs): The Consulate urges Sri Lankans without valid or lost passports to apply for Temporary Travel Documents by 25th October 2024 to allow enough time for processing and obtaining UAE exit permits.
  • Community Assistance: The Consulate remains dedicated to supporting the Sri Lankan community during this amnesty period, encouraging eligible individuals to utilize the available services to resolve their visa issues or return home.
  • Amnesty Programme Statistics:
    • 6,776 individuals have visited the Consulate for assistance during regular and special amnesty consular hours.
    • 907 passport applications have been processed.
    • 761 Temporary Travel Documents have been issued.
    • 835 air tickets have been purchased through Sri Lankan Airlines and Fits Air at special counters at the Consulate premises.

This initiative highlights the Consulate’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of the Sri Lankan diaspora in the UAE.
