Samagi Jana Balavegaya’s presidential candidate, Sajith Premadasa, has promised to usher in a golden era for Sri Lanka’s gems and jewellery sector under his leadership. Speaking at a recent event, Premadasa emphasized the need for new policies to strengthen the industry while pledging to curb the influence of multinational companies and crony relationships.
Premadasa vowed to prevent unfair practices, stating that his administration would adopt modern technology while remaining free from financial or political influence.
“We will not allow multinational companies to exploit this sector through cronyism. Our commitment is to implement a robust policy framework and advance the industry with innovation,” he declared.
He urged the people of Sri Lanka to support his party to bring about these changes, promising incentives and facilities to foster growth and sustainability in the gems and jewelry sector.
