The container vessel MV EVER ARM made its maiden call at the Colombo East Container Terminal (CECT) on September 5, 2024. Part of Evergreen’s fleet and sailing under the Taiwanese flag, the vessel operates on the China-Europe-Mediterranean (CEM) route. This visit marks a key milestone for the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), which manages the CECT terminal.
MV EVER ARM, built by Samsung Heavy Industries in 2022, is 400 meters long and 60 meters wide, with a summer draught of 17.027 meters. The vessel boasts a gross tonnage of 235,579 and a deadweight capacity of 241,960 metric tonnes, capable of carrying up to 24,000 TEUs. Equipped with advanced propulsion technology, it enhances operational efficiency and cargo capacity.
The Port of Colombo’s 55-meter-high ship-to-shore cranes ensured efficient handling during the vessel’s stay. Following its departure from Rotterdam Maasvlakte, MV EVER ARM is now en route to Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

SLPA Chairman, Keith D. Bernard, highlighted that the vessel’s call underscores the trust placed in the Port of Colombo by the global shipping and logistics community. “The port is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to meet the current and future demands of the maritime sector,” he stated.
Lal Weerasinghe, Additional Managing Director (Operations) at SLPA, emphasized that this achievement reflects the excellence of the Port of Colombo and showcases the modern infrastructure at CECT, the newly commissioned deep-water terminal.
The arrival of MV EVER ARM reinforces the Port of Colombo’s ability to handle the latest ultra-large container vessels, enhancing its strategic role in global maritime trade. The successful operation highlights the port’s status as a premier international trade hub.
