General Election 2024: Postal Voting Enters 02nd Day

National Election Commission of Sri Lanka

The postal voting for Sri Lanka’s General Election 2024 continued into its second day today, following the commencement on October 30. The Election Commission has organized voting facilities across key locations, including police stations, District Secretariats, Election Commission offices, and the Offices of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Key Details:

  • Voting for Armed Forces and Government Institutions: The Commissioner General of Elections, Saman Sri Rathnayake, confirmed that postal voting is also available today (November 1) and will continue on November 4, specifically for the armed forces and various government institutions.
  • Alternate Voting Days: For those unable to cast their postal votes on the scheduled dates, an alternative provision allows them to vote at their corresponding District Secretariat on November 7 and 8, aligning with their workplace location.

This structured voting schedule aims to facilitate maximum participation in the electoral process, ensuring that postal voters across various sectors have ample opportunity to exercise their right to vote.
