The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the awarding of a contract to M/s OQ Trading Limited for the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to Litro Gas Company for the year 2025. The decision, announced by Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijith Herath at a press conference today (29), follows a rigorous international competitive bidding process.
Key Highlights:
- International Competitive Bidding: Tenders for the supply of LPG were invited under a single-stage, double-lot system, adhering to international standards for competitive bidding.
- Bid Evaluation Process: Only two suppliers—M/s OQ Trading Limited and M/s Siam Gas Trading Pte Ltd—submitted bids for this tender. However, the bid from M/s Siam Gas Trading was subsequently rejected.
- Recommendation and Approval: Based on evaluations by the Technical Appraisal Committee and the Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet, M/s OQ Trading Limited was recommended as the most responsive bidder and approved for the contract.
This contract approval ensures that Litro Gas will secure a reliable LPG supply for 2025, supporting continued energy distribution and stability in the sector. The Cabinet’s decision reinforces the government’s commitment to a transparent and efficient procurement process that prioritizes competitive and dependable suppliers.
