Laugfs Gas PLC announced it will resolve the shortage of its gas cylinders across Sri Lanka within the next two days, following recent supply and distribution challenges.
According to Dr. W.K.H. Wegapitiya, Chairman of Laugfs Gas, several regions have been experiencing shortages, primarily due to delayed imports and distribution disruptions.
Key Factors Behind the Shortage
- Middle East Conflict Impact: Import schedules were impacted by the ongoing Middle East conflict, which led to delays in gas shipments destined for Sri Lanka.
- Flooded Terminal: The primary Laugfs terminal faced flooding, further complicating the distribution process and contributing to the shortage.
- New Shipment Arrival: On October 28, a vessel carrying LP gas arrived at Hambantota port, signaling relief as Laugfs initiates swift distribution to affected regions.
Distribution Timeline
Dr. Wegapitiya assured that Laugfs Gas will distribute the newly arrived stock across the island within the next two to three days. This development is expected to stabilize the gas supply and address immediate consumer needs.
With these measures, Laugfs aims to restore normal supply levels quickly, mitigating any further disruption to households and businesses dependent on LP gas.
