Mr. Marc-Andre Franche, the UN Resident Coordinator for Sri Lanka, met with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya today in a courtesy call to extend best wishes and reaffirm the UN’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s development agenda.

- Women Empowerment: A key topic of the meeting was the issue of women empowerment, with the UN expressing its eagerness to assist in empowering women in Sri Lanka.
The discussion reflects the continued collaboration between Sri Lanka and the UN on critical social and economic development goals.
Other attendees included Pradeep Saputhanthri, Secretary to the Prime Minister; Mahinda Gunarathna, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister; Dayani Mendis, Director General of the United Nations and Human Rights Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Patrick Mc Carthy and Nethmini Medawala from the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office.
